I have been using phone/wallet cases for many years in several different styles with many different phones. One thing I have learned is that any wallet case that keeps the cards in place by friction alone will eventually get loose and cards will fall out when you don't want them to. I haven't lost any cards yet, but I think it's only a matter of time.This time around, I had two primary buying criteria. The wallet had to magnetically attach to the phone (or in my case a phone case) rather than being a single monolithic case/wallet unit. I wanted the ability to attach the phone to a magnetic holder in the car and a permanently attached wallet would get in the way of that. The second criteria was that the wallet had to have a cover that would keep the cards from falling out once the elastic stretched enough to no longer keep the cards in place with friction alone.I found two MagSafe wallets that looked like they would meet my needs and got them both. This review will be a comparison of the two and will be posted on both products.Spoiler alert. Both seem to be very well made and each is easily worth five stars in it's own right. I'm not going to say that one is better than the other and I won't be giving points to one or the other to decide on a "winner". There are differences between the wallets which I will be discussing. I won't give an advantage to Miroddi here, because I think both will hold up just fine over the expected lifespan of the wallet. Only time will tell if I'm right on this point.Face on, the two wallets look virtually identical even down to the stitching. The magnets that attach the wallets to the phone seem to be similar in strength with ExtreLife being a bit stronger. The magnets that hold to card flap shut are also similar with the Miroddi being a bit stronger.Up until this point, I wouldn't consider any of the differences mentioned to be selling points of one over the other because they are so similar, but that's about to change.One difference where a point clearly has to go to the Miroddi is that it has an RFID blocker. ExtreLife's listing doesn't mention one and I can't feel one on the wallet.Both wallets have Apple's "Find My" technology, and how they go about implementing it is really what sets the two wallets apart.I've connected both to Find My on my phone and when I use it to play a sound on the wallets, ExtreLife is at least twice as loud as the Miroddi and is much easier to hear. The sound of the Miroddi could easily be drowned out in anything but a quiet environment.I'm going to refrain from saying which of the following points is better or worse because that answer will be entirely subjective and what is better for me might not be what is better for you.You need a battery for Find My to work and the batteries are what really set to two apart. ExtreLife's battery is MUCH bigger and I would expect it to be able to go much longer between charges. ExtreLife's manual says to charge it every three months. I haven't had either wallet long enough yet for either one to need a charge beyond what I gave them on day one so I can't tell yet how long each battery will actually last.ExtreLife's battery is 5.5mm (7/32 inch) thick and attaches to the wallet portion with a stiff hinge which is another 3mm thick. This means that ExtreLife is a good deal thicker overall than the Miroddi. The hinge allows the wallet to open into an A frame allowing the wallet be used as a stand for the phone. The phone can attach to that "stand" either vertically or horizontally.The Miroddi's much smaller battery is integrated as a single unit into the back of the wallet itself. Having a smaller battery means the Miroddi is significantly thinner and lighter but being a single unit with no hinge, you don't get the stand functionality of ExtreLife.The Miroddi's battery is charged with a MagSafe charger meaning it has to be separated from the phone in order to charge. ExtreLife, on the other hand, charges via USB-C and can remain attached to the phone while charging.It boils down to how thick do you want the wallet to be and how important is RFID blocking? The Miroddi has RFID blocking and is significantly thinner and lighter but at the cost of not having a stand and requiring more frequent charging. The ExtreLife can act as a stand and requires less frequent charging at the cost of greater weight and thickness and no RFID blocking.
